I have been looking for ages to track when this lady died. Facts I know are:-

11.5.1820 - married Paul Downton Leman in Keynsham
c 1821 - son Henry Paul Leman born, probably in London, though as yet untraced
1841 census - Paul a widower, with just one child

My guess is that as Henry was their only child, Mary Ann may well have died in childbirth. A Mary Ann Reed has been found baptised in 1804, so perhaps only aged 17.

If anyone can assist on this, and on Henry's birth, it would be much appreciated.

The IGI has a burial for a Mary Ann Leman on 5 Feb 1823 Clifton. It also has a baptism for a Mary Ann Reed on 17 April 1796 Chew Magna, parents Thomas Reed and Mary. Haven't found a baptism for Henry.
Paul was baptised on 11 Mar 1801 at St Augustine, Bristol, parents Thomas Curtis Leman and Ann. Also loads of siblings baptised there - Anne 27.3.1794, Edward John 5.10.1809, Frances 26.10.1804, Frederick 15.7.1807, Henry 24.11.1802, James 21.5.1795, Lucy 15.7.1807, Rebecca 22.10.1796, William 27.12.1798 and Thomas Curtis 27.9.1792. Variations of spelling Leman: Lemary, Loman, Lemon - may help in the search for Henry

Thanks Rose, that's really helpful and almost certainly my ancestor. A trip is now needed to Bristol Record Office where I can hopefully find the relevant church and how old she was. That may help determine whether the 1796 or 1804 birth is correct.
Paul (1801-1893) remarried 1859 Jane Baker (1828-1922)
Henry born 1821 Glouces
Mary died 1844 Bristol
I don't know about Mary Ann Leman's death, but Henry Paul emigrated to Australia by 1852 and died there. A search on ancestry.co.uk will elicit much information about Henry after his arrival in Australia.

Mary Ann died in Pembroke in Wales, the same place as where Henry Paul was born (according to 1851 census where he was living in Oxford). She was buried 4 Mar 1823. Presumably Paul Downton Leman went there as an assistant surgeon. Mary Ann was baptised in Chew Magna as answer 1 indicates.
