My PC turns itself off without warning when I'm in the middle of browsing. A work colleague said it is caused by a keystroke bug but I don't know what this means as I'm not very technologically minded. Can anyone help or explain how to remove this bug? I have Avast as my virus checker which is up to date. Thanks.

It sounds to me to be more hardware related, although I can not be sure of that. I'd first a suspect the power supply, or maybe something else overloading it.

in your shoes I think I'd consider getting a technician to check the insides out.
Check the cooling fins on processor to see if it is thick with dust, if the processor overheats it will shut the PC down to save it from permanent damage, I have had that problem a couple of times.
Excellent point. Feel foolish not to have thought of heat, myself.

Try downloading and running a programme called speedfan. I've found it useful in monitoring the heat sensors the PC tends to have built in, giving a clue on stuff running a bit hot.

It may even be the fan on your processor either stopped or running inefficiently. I've needed to clean mine off on occasion, although I appreciate it is a little nerve wracking if not confident of a PC's insides.
