Ireland Post Code?

Are their post codes for Southern Ireland yet?
I just tried to send an item the Republic of Ireland by tracked postage.
The post office would not accept it a there was no post code on the address and they say tracking is by post code. I Googled it and it seems post codes are due in 2015 for Ireland. It was an ebay item so I will not be able to prove delivery.

Dublin has postcodes (but covering quite large areas). I don't think the rest of RoI does though.

They dont even have named roads in the parts of Southern Ireland that we drive through, around the west coast from Dingle to kinsale, although the main towns have names on roads, not the country lanes ... I always wonder how the postman finds houses ....

No not outside of Dublin, in Donegal for example they run like this

Kinsale, Cavangarden, Donegal-
house name, vague area, nearest biggish place lol

House address is ficticious before anyone panics

And in Sneem it's.....The house with the green door....opposite the Wild Goat next to where big Mick lived before he moved behind the blue post office......

Much the same in rural Devon, Gness. I once had a small parcel delivered to me while I stood in an eight feet deep drainage trench.............

The buyer has just messaged me and confirmed they do not have post codes yet , 'due in a few years' he says. He says not to worry and the postman knows where he lives. Not sure how eBay will regard it if he claims it has not been delivered . I will ask eBay and see what they say.
