What's this about Sainsbury halving the points we get next year? Maybe if we all complained, and threatened not to shop there, they would have a change of heart. I usually only buy petrol at Sainsbury's, but I do go out of my way to do so.

you'll earn fewer points on your shopping but you'll still earn 1 point per litre of fuel as before.
Yes I got their letter this morning. We don't have a Sainsbury's petrol station though.
And their Price Match isn't going to include Tesco any more.
Agreed I was annoyed when I got that news today. We do our weekly shop in Sainsbury's (there's only Asda, Tesco, Lidl and M&S to choose from). I always save my nectar points to pay for our Xmas shop.
I only buy diesel, smoked cheese & black currant cheesecake from Sainsbury so I doubt they'd miss me if I boycotted them.
Please show link.
Ron, it'd a mail shot we got today
Cheers
For every pound you spend you'll get a point worth ½p. This means that instead of spending £250 to get back £2.50 you'll need to spend £500. They've also stopped giving points on spirits. I think I'll go back to Morrison's as they're cheaper.
Oh dear....the cats better get used to a different Cat Litter (they only go in Sainsbury's) we always do our main shop in Sainsburys...will have to see what Nungate and Mr Nungate have to say on the matter
I got the info by email today...the changes in Nectar points are to pay for more competitive pricing on everyday shopping...trying to compete with Aldi, Lidl etc.
Some of the so called incentives are useless if you don't drive,or never spend 60 quid at a time. They are going to lose custumetrs.
I emailed Sainsburys CEO about this today and this is the reply;

Thank you for your email to Mike Coupe, who has asked me to respond to you on his behalf about the change to Nectar points. I am sorry you are disappointed with this and appreciate the chance to explain a little more about what it all means.

We know Nectar is important to our customers and are always looking at ways to improve the scheme. We will be bringing you lots of new ways to boost your points balance.

We will be running a number of different promotions over the coming weeks, including:

· Double points in our convenience stores from 15th - 21st October.

· Swipe to Win this weekend, giving you a coupon for anywhere between 50 and 5,000 Nectar points when you spend £20 in store, with chances to become a Nectar millionaire.

· Double Up on Christmas products from 19th - 25th November, on Taste the Difference, still, sparkling and fortified wines, electrical products, toys, clothing, home and seasonal items. This is where points are worth double their value when redeeming against the included categories (500 points = £5 to spend).

These are all running this year, to give you a taster of the kind of promotions you will see when the changes come into effect.

I hope this helps to restore your faith in our loyalty scheme and explains how you will be able to earn more points than before. We look forward to welcoming you in store again soon.

Yours sincerely
Charlene McCann

This to me is the sort of answer that a politician gives by trying to hi-lite the so called good points but failing to realise the bad points of the plan!!

I ask you all to email him yourself at; [email protected]
I'm really annoyed about this - it is only a few weeks since I opened a bank account with Sainsbury's because the lass in the store flogging it told me I would get double points if using Sainsbury's Bank card in their store. Time to e-mail Mr Coupe I think.
Asda seem to do alright without a loyalty card.
