Low Blood Sugar. What Foods Should I Eat?

Hi. I have to eat every 3 hours or so otherwise my blood sugar levels drop and I feel unwell (light headed, shaky, blurred vision). I've just had blood tests that have ruled out diabetes, thyroid problem and anaemia. I'm fed up feeling like this, and also want to lose weight which is difficult when I have to eat so frequently. I have three meals plus snacks mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Can anyone offer any advice or tell me what foods i should eating to try and maintain a more stable level of blood sugar? I feel like I'm having to eat high sugar foods to boost my sugar levels which is probably making things worse as then they come crashing down again. At the moment I'm having toast or porridge for breakfast, a cereal bar mid-morning. Sandwich and yoghurt or bag or crisps for lunch. A banana or cereal bar mid-afternoon, then a normal dinner of meat/veg/potatoes or pasta in the evening. Has anyone any words of wisdom for me? Thanks all.

Not an unusual situation........post prandial hypotension and probably nothing to do with blood sugar.

Try a low carbohydrate diet. Its what I did three years ago,and it helped immensly.

I have polycystic ovaries and have had problems such as yours. My problems started during my teens and the problem/attack usually took place a couple of hours after a meal.

Fast forward to about 10 to 15 years ago and I was given diabetic medication as it was now considered to be a treatment for Polycystic ovaries. My bloom sugar levels had always been within the range that is acceptable.

About 5 years ago I was diagnosed as diabetic, now taking the same diabetic medication but at a slightly higher dose.

Google Insulin intolerance and see if it gives you any further information. Pasta mentions a low carb diet, these can work but they didn't work for me due to mental health issues (something to do with carbs being needed for brain function?!). Low GI diets use carbs that will keep your blood sugar levels from peaking and crashing.

Thanks for all your replies. A couple of things for me to look into there. Sqad I looked up what you said. Funnily enough my blood pressure is, or was a bit high, so I've been on 2mg of Candersartan for the past few months. I've been having these symptoms for over six years though and they come on about 3 hours after eating. If it is post prandial hypotension, what would you expect my blood pressure to drop to? I have a monitor so I could check it. Usually it's around 110/75.
Coffee and cinnamon are the food that might be able to cut the risk of diabetes or help to improve blood sugar levels. But don't get the idea that such foods are magic bullets for your diabetic diet. If you will not use proper medication than you won't be able to prevent the diabetes from yourself.
