They haven't been around since 2002:

However you can get a BT Chargecard that lets you make calls from payphones (or anywhere else) and have the charged to your home BT account. I used to have one (I've probably still got it somewhere) and my friend found it very useful to borrow when she was in hospital, as it avoided paying the really expensive charges on the hospital's portable payphone.

chris, i dont reside in the uk, but just like sqad, live in spain, but have to visit the uk once or twice a year. so a bt chargecard is out of the question.
A thought occured to me, could i buy an english orange sim card, and put it in my spanish orange phone?
Probably. Folk do it the other way around. However SIM cards need to be used regularly (say once every 6 months, or maybe a year) to stay on the database.
I've a suspicion that a phone locked to Orange ES might see Orange UK as a different network, so it might not work.

It might be simplest to call into any large branch of Asda and buy a new mobile phone. They're always available cheaply there. e.g. Asda are currently selling this model for a fiver:

All you then need is to buy some credit for it. (Remember though, as O_G has indicated, that you'll lose your phone number and remaining credit if you don't 'make a connection action' during a certain period. With EE it's 180 days).
