just got my sewing machine out and for some reason I cannot get it to go forward I can move the hand wheel at the side backwards but it will not go forwards. The manual doesn't give me any help in the troubleshooting page , I have oiled the lower part as per instructions but it doesn't tell me how to oil the insides, I am only guessing it could be that it needs oil but after taking the side off I cannot tell where to oil. Any help please Thanks

sorry should have said Singer 8280
Check the basics.
If the stitch length is set to 0 the machine will not sew forward
Make sure the feed dogs are in the up position
Make sure the presser foot is down when you sew
Re thread the machine and take out and re-insert the bobbin...after you have check both for knots
Only oil where it tells you to oil in the manual. do NOT start dismantling it it and putting oil where you shouldn't.
Once you've checked the basics and oiled where you should (and given it a good clean as prescribed in the manual), if it still doesn't work I suggest you need it serviced. Last time I had mine cleaned it cost £20
sorry, not cleaned....serviced....it cost £20
Bent needle? Even a slight bend may stop it from going through the small hole in the base plate.
