I love olives, black, green or stuffed. However, I can@T really distinguish between good and mediocre. Which olives are the very best?

(I do realise that this might be a Question which relates to 'whatever you like' but I would like to taste the crème de la crème of olives. Which are they?)

Bedfordshire, Frog Nog..........Why do you want to know?
I think there is a case of you get what you pay for, here. In my experience the overpriced pots of olives tend to taste best. Sorry my memory is so bad I can't quote the names of those I think particularly nice varieties, but I know I recognise them when I see them :-)
Because there is a nice shop where I live Tilly2. (NOrth Yorks).
I was thinking that maybe someone could recommend someone near you.
I suppose if you buy some from Fortnum & Mason they'll be top notch Tilly.

Thanks for that link, Danny. Some lovely stuff on that website.
''Which olives are the very best?''

Doesn't really matter if you can't distinguish between good and mediocre.
Olives are goppiing and are second only to sprouts, which everyone knows are the devils phlegm wrapped in small parcels.
My favourite are green olives stuffed with pimento, fresh or tinned. Full of taste
big fat green ones stuffed with garlic
Try 'em stuffed with anchovies, fluff - even better than garlic.
Yuck yuck SD, how anyone can like anchovies is beyond me. Olives on the other hand are simply delicious. Best I ever tasted were in Albania where they are grown - market had barrels and barrels of them. I go to the deli counters in supermarkets as they are better than the run of the mill jars in brine.
I love all olives whichever way they come,i read those with stones left in are the best,i was in Crete last week and the unpitted olives were smaller than most i`ve had but were delicious.
Why is it that any thread lauding a particular gourmet delight gets polluted with posts by people without a sufficiently developed taste to like the product under discussion who merely post to bad-mouth it. So unnecessary and childish.
Well said Canary42 i`d share a bowl of Olives or Anchovies with you anytime.
Because it is important folk know that their tastebuds aren't working well and they can not distinguish how awful their beloved food really is !
