More grabbing. Whilst I agree with people paying there due, where there is dispute surely it should be for the courts to decide, not one of the parties involved in the dispute?

The MWSD seem to think they can be a w unto themselves!

The problem is that these people cannot be reasoned with and as such they should not have powers to simply declare they are correct force the issue. I am always nervous giving this sort of power to government busy bodies.
My oldest brother is currently embroiled in a very nasty dispute with them and they are indeed judge jury and executioner and imho it's simply unacceptable.
If they were a competent and approachable body.......perhaps.

But they're not.....so, no.

No. With the best will in the world people make mistakes, including staff at the Inland Revenue. Will they quickly return monies taken if they are wrong? This is a recipe for disaster.
This is obviously wrong. The only people that think it'd be a good idea for the government to be able help itself to peoples bank accounts would be the government.

It wouldn't be so bad if they got their sums right all the time, but they clearly don't.
oh, HMRC's assessments can be very generous to taxpayers
