I am looking at buying a small new-build house & many of them say "local connection applies". I know this is for Gas & Electricity supplies but can anyone give me a rough idea of what the costs are for this. thanks x

Best ask the utility provider, prices can vary enormously depending on the proximity of sufficient capacity.

thank you for your reply. It is a completely new estate so guess I would need to find out a new utility provider??
The connections will be done by the local networks who own the pipes and cables, regardless of who you buy the electricity/gas/ water/telephone service from. All the relevant phone numbers will be in the front of the telephone .
Is it a straightforward House purchase?

The only time i have seen "Local Connection " mentioned has been in Housing Schemes and those who offer part Rent/Buy type arrangements.

In that case the mean having a connection to the local area in some way.

I agree. This sounds like it is not to do with the cost of installing utilities, but that you have to have a local connection to the area to be eligible to apply to buy. There will be some form of subsidy involved in the cost of the build.
My first thought was that these are 'local houses for local people'.
Oops, didn't spot the alternative meaning....
