I have a new chip pan for first time in 20 years. What's the best oil to use?

I tend to use rape seed (crisp 'n' dry) but veg oil and sunflower oil are fine.

Whichever one you prefer ? Better in what way ?

You can choose different ones depending on the cooking temperature you require. Rape seed oil is supposed to be one of the healthier ones from what I read.

Sunflower oil.
My oh was told by the heart clinic that if he must fry anything rape seed oil would be best, we all like it and never use anything else now.
I think the suggestion of NOT using a chip pan is the best one.

Read this, one fifth (20%) of all house fires are started by chip pans

Using anything other than beef dripping is heresy!
I've gone over to oven chips now but before that, I found rapeseed was best.
