I have just downloaded this. If I create a document and send it as an attachment in an email to people who have Microsoft Word, will they be able to open it? Similarly vice versa.

Kingsoft Writer can open Microsoft Office documents.

To save in Microsoft formats, simply use 'Save as' instead of 'Save':

Thank you for that Chico. And does it work the other way round, can MO open Kingsoft docs?
If you are using Windows why not write it with WordPad, a basic word processor supplied with all versions of Windows.

Thanks VHG. I am on the dreaded Window 8.1 and wouldn't know where to begin to find it.
>>>does it work the other way round

I thought that I'd answered that in my first paragraph! (i.e. "Yes")

>>>why not write it with WordPad

Er, possibly because Notepad and Wordpad (which are in all versions of Windows, under Start > Programs > Accessories) are little more than a joke when compared to any proper word processing programs?
