I get beautiful coleslaw or rather I got from my local chippy. However they have discontinued it but last week I got a glance into their fridge and saw that they use Extra Thick Mayonnaise by Hellmanns - I did wonder why the slaw was so creamy.

Anyway googled it there and apparently it only comes in 4lb tubs - anybody know where I could get a jar of it. TIA

JJ, are you not on a diet? Don't go there!
There must be a reason JJCon why it seems only to be available in large catering sizes.

Maybe cost, who knows.

to get the effect you need more egg yolks in the mix to make a heavier Mayo.

Sorry submitted too soon above - knew there would be somebody from Weightwatcher platoon reminding me of the error of my ways.

Bought icecream and chocs yesterday - took one spoonful and ate one choc and neighbour's kids got the lot. This is what I do all the time.

Tilly - Errrrrrrrr - just enquiring. LOL
pass the rollos Conne !!
Can't you buy weeny icecreams conne, or mini bars of chocs (to save wasting all the rest of the food, as well as costing you)? I've just eaten a small one from Tescos slimming range.
I'm sorry, jj. It's really none of my business what you eat. I just thought you were trying to lose weight for this wedding you are going to.

The greedy pig that I am Boxy - is that when I do buy the teeny choc ices etc I very much tend to eat 3 or 4. Isn't that awful but I like them.
Oh dear, I can't advise you about that, conne!!

Ach Tilly - wedding done and dusted last week 13 Sept - I had a fabulous time, everything was great, food, company and music and also
my doctor didn't go. He was too busy Bel-doc-ing. That is what we call emergency night doctor. Having said that he is nice.

I wore trousers and a red little number. Deffo could have looked nicer tho.

Please God I won't have any more weddings EVER.
When I had my cafe I used to use the oasis extra thick mayo to make my coleslaw. Smallest size you could get was 2.5lt (a bit more than 4 pints of milk container) It was blooming lovely. I have tried all different brands but have not found one that matches. The nearest that I have found is to taste but not texture is Lidl's own brand.

thanks Syccie.
Get some Lidl, reduced fat coleslaw. It's lovely.

Glad you enjoyed the wedding. I'm sure you looked lovely.

Tilly - there was a young girl there about 30ish. I know her very well and she must be all of 30 stone easy. However, has a dynamic personality and dresses a little OTT - her hair is dyed punky red and she had it rolled like 1920s era - also she was wearing a mini dress with polka dots and she had her fiance with her (who was very slim).

I heard she had a few critics that day re her dress but I say "good luck to her and wear whatever you want" - fingers to the critics.

Question Author
Syccie - can you freeze mayonnaise or would it curdle. Thanks
Never tried to freeze mayo myself but it is possible. The mayo may separate or lose its texture but with a good mix up it would be good again, the taste would be there still. I wouldn't think large quantities would last long in the fridge after being frozen though.
