Can't Get Online With The Laptop. (Just Happened Yesterday)

I tried to send an email yesterday on my four year old laptop only to find that it is now not connected to the internet. The Windows programme is Vista if that is any help to anyone. I did try following instructions on the 'help' windows but to no avail. Has anyone else had a problem like this.

Occasionally but it usually means that BT or Virgin or whatever, is doing work in you area. Should all come back up eventually.

How do you connect to the 'Net, Joe?
Mobile or wireless router?

Hi The Builder, thanks for your reply. I usually connect to the next via the router with our home computer. I have tried putting the details and password in but it does not recognise it.

Hi Joe, we get our broadband through BT & quite often we have to re-boot the BT Hub & then it's OK for a while. Have you also tried disconnecting your laptop from the mains ( if it's plugged in to the mains ) & then re-starting it ?

That's what I was thinking, Ron.

It's not uncommon to have to reset the router (either by a reset button, or unplugging from the mains and re-plugging after 20 or 30 seconds.)
