Same shaped leaves, tree size and nut casing, however nut is more elongated. Thousands have shed their casing.

They are probably filberts, and they are good eating

Thank you but it's not the Filbert. Nut much smaller about the size of a sunflower seed

I was also about to suggest that it sounds like a filbert, when I read your first post but sunflower size seed is way too small.
I'm thinking that it could be a hornbeam nutlet, edible but hardly worth the effort.
