How do I get a pound sign ( in money - not weight) up when I press the arrow pointing up key and the xpound sign I get this # - help please

Strange, you get # by pressing alt 3 not the arrow up key.

It's because you have the US keyboard loaded. Go to settings/keyboard/input sources and choose British
