Rubber Mitt For Grooming Cat/dog, Do They Work?

I have a wire brush which my cat loves, it traps a lot of hairs but some just seem to fly about. She won't let me brush her outside (maybe next doors dog laughs) so I have to clean up the fly away hairs.
So (A) Do they work?
(B) Do they collect and hold all the hair?
(C) How do you clean the mitt?
