Cakking myself at the moment.

My consultant said in July that he would put me on his surgical list to correct a problem he ignored for 16 months, but said I wouldn't hear anything till late Sept or Oct.

I rang this morning to check (I'm a worry wort lol) and they can't find me on the lists.

So much for him being one of the best in the country or on the telly regularly, he has let me down somewhat already let alone not being on the list!!

Hopefully one of his secetaries wnd me languishing in the system somewhere and put me back in the right place :)

\\\\\correct a problem he ignored for 16 months\\\

No!.......he didn't IGNORE the problem, he almost certainly just monitored the situation which is a valid and often sensible line of treatment.
Whilst it does sound a concern, I'd try not to jump to conclusions. It's not late September nor October yet. Maybe it's just a case of not spotting you on whatever list it is.

He didn't monitor anything. He tried to discharge me twice. There was a problem that was 'fixed' that didn't do the job it was supposed to.

He was told within a month it hadn't been successful and he IGNORED what I had to say and wouldn't even do a simple test that would have PROVED it had done the same. He chose to IGNORE what was obvious and a known problem with my insides and happens with others on a regular basis.

If I had gone by what he said I would have been discharged after 4 months with no resolution. He even went on to suggest I see shrink about my 'unfounded fears' because he was igoring what was being said.

It was only after I refused to leave his clinic that he reluctantly agreed to the test. And low and behold he admitted what he had ignored for 16 months.

I think I'm quite justified in saying he ignored me.

I'd like to think I am just mislade in the system somewhere but I don't hold much faith in him at the moment.

When a nurse I know spotted him just before my original op she was very impressed 'the big man' had come down to do it. Being under 'the big man' doesn't mean you will be problem free and tbh I have always said that no matter how good you are there will, from time to time, be problems. In my book it is how you deal with these that is just as important as other aspects.
It's a bit late now, but whyever didn't you ask for a second opinion, or ask you GP to refer you to another consultant, if you were so disatissfied over a year ago? I think you need to be careful on this site not to identify this consultant, since you say he's on TV and people might be able to work out who he is. Is this a private appointment or an NHS arrangement? If it's NHS, ring the PALS office at the hospital - they may be able to help you in their role of patient liaison.
Question Author
My original op was private but when the problem came to light he shunted me over to his NHS list. He did the 'fix' on the NHS and I've been under him on the NHS ever since.

I am a doppy duck really lol. Too frghtened to make much of a fuss but frustraited he wasn't listening.
Question Author
Well it's now looking official.

I wasn't on the surgical list and the secretaries are waiting for him to get back to them with an explanation.

Not looking good at the moment :(
Get onto the PALS office at the hospital, cassa - see what they advise. They are there to help. https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#q=what+is+pals+nhs

I want to Boxtops. I want to scream and shout at him and shake him by his boots but I think he would discharge me completely or try to send me to a shrink again.

You know when he first suggested I 'see someone' I made the comment that Paranioa is only paranoia if your fears are unfounded. What is it called if your fears ARE founded? He just said we would cross that bridge when we got to it. We got to that bridge and he was still reluctant to believe or do anything :(

I will give them to the end of the week to see what is said. Then if they are still procrastinating either ask to see him asap or go to pals.

I wasn't mislaid in the system. He hadn't put me on the list. After his secretary giving him the reminder I am now on it

Hower his original Sept/Oct surgery date is not on because his list is full up to and including November.

I wouldn't want to stop anyone elses surgery for mine but I am going to write to him and ask that he look to do it sooner. After all If he had investigated when he should hae he would have found out it needed doing 18 months ago.

I wonder what the outcome would be if I went to PALS now? Would he wash his hands of it and I get stuck with the 'pain in the ***' lable and no one want to do anything?
