Now that aircraft really should not leave the country, should it? Over there, it's of great historical and nostalgic interest; anywhere else it would just be "an old airplane". Wouldn't you think that the imperial War Museum would be highly interested in it?
Lottery 'good causes' money should be used to keep it in the UK
I, for one, would certainly donate a few pounds if someone came around with a collection box.
Don't let the Scots get their hands on it: it could be the nucleus of their new air force:)
That's awful.
They couldn't afford it!
Who, New Judge: the Scots or the Imperial War Museum?:)
I agree with Sandy, mind you the guy's making a hell of a profit.
I was also thinking that, Prudie; however, the British people "profited" from the existence and the actions of this plane and its pilots, so there is no reason why it should not remain there. To be sold overseas would be an insult to the men who flew it in the defense of the country.
The plane should go where it belongs,To the BoBMF were it can keep flying in the company of the other iconic aircraft that helped save us.£2.5 million is a pittance compared to what we send abroad and judging by the interest the flight generates where ever it goes it will soon be paying it's way.
It always saddens me when I see the threads of the fabric of this nation being sold off.
This was literally part of these Isles 'Finest Hour' and lottery money ought to be used to keep it here IMHO.
Prudie,I know it might sound as if he's making a huge profit but don't forget it took around 32,000 man hours to restore it to airworthiness and I'd imagine the skills required to do that don't come cheap,so he might not be making that much profit
