from one of the comments at the end of the article.....sums it up really

"Native British people must be insane for ever believing in this diseased ideology of multi-culturalism.

an awful lot of us didnt , but it was/is forced on us
AOG

Not sure if this explains what it will mean to those who have had the fatwa issued against them, but it goes some way in describing what one actually is:

Some of us have been shouting and screaming on here for years about the problems brought about by mass immigration (and been shouted down on here for it).

We should have clamped down MUCH harder on some of these extreme Muslims long before we did. Why "hook" was allowed to go on preaching his hate on the streets of London for years I will never know.

It is a bit like allowing Hitler to come to London in 1938 and giving a "nazi" speech in Trafalgar Square.

We have been FAR to lax and of course in many ways it is also far too late.
We are stuck with these Muslims and I sadly am not sure there is much we can do about it.

What a stupid country we are.
I don't understand the Hard Right's antipathy towards Muslim extremists - after all they espouse the same punishment regimes.
I'm far more surprised at the 'love-in' twixt the whingy, whiny liberal left and the misogynistic fascists of Islam.
Rudyard Kipling sure had it right when he wrote 'East is East and West is West and never the twain shall meet'.

Yes how different this country would now be if we had vetted our immigrants before they came here.

We should have never issued all with duel British passports.
Did you hear the documentary about Ray Honeyford on R4 this morning, AOG. He tried to warn people 30 years ago but got the sack for his troubles. The liberatti should hang their heads in shame.
sp1814; Your link is interesting but I don't think it avoids explaining a so-called 'death fatwa'. It maintains that a fatwa is simply an opinion on what is and what is not permitted, but they appear to go much further, in that certain **** Imams call for overt actions of the worst kind, even now calling for a "reviving" of that against Salman Rushdie;
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2560683/Iranian-mullah-revives-death-fatwa-against-Salman-Rushdie-Satanic-Verses-25-years-issued.html
It appears that either this guy is breaking the rules, or there is more to the rules than is outlined in the link.
delete "don't" from line 1 please
Usama Hasan is a man of great intellect who has //argued that Islam is compatible with the theory of evolution, dismissing the story of Adam and Eve as "children's madrasa-level understanding" ….His lectures have been disrupted by hecklers on occasion for suggesting that Islam is compatible with evolution and he claims to have received death threats.[//

Don’t be surprised if a fatwa is very soon issued against him.

Seems they are talking with forked tongue (any reference to Dr Who is purely accidental)

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/sep/01/crackdown-british-jihadis-push-muslim-youth-towards-extremism

/// "They need to be talking to us and others to understand what it is that's leading these boys down this route," Khan told the Guardian. "Part of the problem is the constant talk of legislation, harassment and monitoring, stripping people of their passports. This is what's leading young people towards radicalism." ///

Well if they know, then they must know those who are getting upset about this 'purge', so why don't they just report them?
Because sectretly many do approved of extreme Islam, at least to the extent of Islam ruling the world and to be rid of the infidel.
//Khan told the Guardian. "Part of the problem is the constant talk of legislation, harassment and monitoring, stripping people of their passports. This is what's leading young people towards radicalism."//

What a stupid comment! If they weren't doing what they're doing, none of those things would be a consideration. Typical fundamentalist Islam - it's always someone else's fault.

Gromit

/// More to the point, why do the British Government stand idlly by while IS carve out a caliphate? ///

What do you suggest they do Gromit?
It wouldn't have to do by Liberal folk and Gallowayists bleating on that Tony Blair should never have backed Bush Shrub, would it, gromit, so that now the UK appetite for military action is at a low point......?
If Muslim people have an 'obligation to help the peoples of Syria and Iraq' then let them all move to those countries and obligate there!! We don't need them here, if they still want to practise their faith let them do it in a Muslim country, not here where years ago we never heard of British Muslims ..IMO there should be none and if they hadn't come here in the first place however many years ago, then they would be sorting their own business out far removed from the indigenous people here who seem not to be catered for in a lot of ways nowadays. Just my opinion folks!
