.....of my lower back.

Its on my left side above my waistline and sometimes it feels like a hot knife being pushed into me.

It has got worse in the past two weeks, but I don't have it all day, just now and again about 6/8 times.

I haven't been yet, I have an appoint next Tuesday, so was just wondering what it could be,
pinched nerve?
With me its intra-costal bruising caused by a crack to the ribs. Paracetamol and strapping is the home remedy and patience while it heals. Yours may be something quite different of course.
With that description.......no idea.
Doesn't sound a big deal though.
Kidney infection ?
not if its been going on for two weeks with no temperature or other symptoms murray

Thanks for replies.

When I had a test and scan about 14 months ago for prostrate cancer, due to blood in urine, the consultant told me I had a cyst on my kidney (same side I'm asking about) but there was nothing to cause concern.
trt.....that is more helpful. One year ago..investigated for blood in the urine and i presume that the only demonstrated abnormality was a cyst on the kidney.
So presumably the blood in the urine went away and didn't return and that you have had no "water works" problem since.

Cysts on the kidney are common findings on MRI scan and are invariably NOT malignant and rarely need treatment.

I would guess, that one cannot exclude a link between your past investigation one year ago and your present symptoms and he may want a further urological opinion.
