The kid has a brain tumour - his parents have removed him from hospital and have taken him to France......surely that is their legal right? The hospital has triggered an enormous police search on either side of the Channel.

I am not debating the right or wrongs of this, though it's coming to light that they may well be Jehovahs (with an Islamic name for the kid), just questioning the legality of the hospital to impose without a court order.

The poor little lad his parents love him and are trying their best .we should not be judging them or using this thread as JW bashing.
Just guessing from the reports and pictures of the child.

The commonest brain tumour in children is a glioma....nasty, malignant and usually fatal. The child as far as we know hasn't had surgery, probably because the tumour is inoperable and incurable.

Parents have removed him either on humanitarian grounds or to seek alternative treatment elsewhere.

I may be well off the mark.
If he was only diagnosed a month ago and he is now immobile and unable to speak, it must be a very fast growing tumour. Doesn`t bode well, does it?
237.......and can't swallow.
Where are you getting the information he hasn't had surgery from sqad? all reports i've read say he has had extensive surgery with the most recent being 7 days ago.
Maybe the surgery was to help manage the effects of the condition whilst not being able to cure/control it?
The fact that he has had surgery makes the JW issue completely irrelevant IMO. He has ongoing medical issues, can't speak, can't move and can't eat by mouth. Doesn't really look like he'll return to a full life, I quite understand why his parents might take him off with the rest of his family. It's about quality of life and unless we were in their shoes and knew the facts we can't criticize.
The little boy had an operation only seven days ago. Surely a hospital has to be the best place for him to recover . The parents must be mad to do drag him and six other children across into France. It will be interesting to know just why they have done this.I hope the little boy survives his ordeal.

So would the police have grounds for a manslaughter case perhaps, andres - if something tragic does happen......
Well,DTC-I wouldn't know about that but I do know that if I had done this with one of my children and the child died ,then I would feel like a murderer! We don't know the full details yet and as I said before I hope this little lad survives .
If medical professionals think the best place for him is in hospital, then that's where he should be.
Thank you, eve. Sorry - been out. I think I would go with medical advice in that situation, but I can completely understand their panic and desperation. Especially as the hospital are saying they can't do any more.
Let's hope it is not some 'Quack' from overseas who has offered them false hope - just hope someone finds them in time.
eve, thank you for you post, it makes ' things' a little clearer now, poor family :)
Daffy.....I said that "as far as we knew" he hadn't had surgery, I should have said "as far as I know."

Depends what they mean by "surgery". from the pictures i could see no evidence of a "shaven head" which would lead me to question "extensive surgery."

P.S...Just seen pictures from Eve's link.

He has had major surgery.
I have had another look at the pictures and in my opinion, the child hasn't had extensive surgery, just maybe a decompression for raised intracranial pressure and a biopsy.
If my assumptions are correct then this would make the child's condition critical, bordering on terminal.
Apparently he's had a tumour the size of a tangerine removed, but cancer still attacking his brain. Despite chemo doctors fear he has only weeks to live. Poor little boy.
