I had a call earlier and was still groggy from lack of sleep and medication and got a call from "01913009015" Who knew my name and had my new mobile phone no and said they were a Ppi company. I took out a loan a few years ago and am broke so answered quite a few questions as they said they'd send me a pack to fill in i thought that I may be able to get some money back which is well needed.

They asked have I taken any more loans out/Have I been bankrupt/Do I owe anything on any cards/ Did I take out ppi and a few others

I don't think I gave out any too personal details but I did tell roughly how much the loan was. Roughly the year I took it out. The bank I took it out with and my date of birth and my postcode and employer I was with when I took the loan(Stupid I know)

I wasn't going to give bank details, pin numbers or anything more personal.

I've looked up the number and some are saying it's phishers some say scammers and others say sales/ppi.

Does anyone know whether these people are legit and if not have I given out too much information? Could they do anything with the information I've given? If so what can I do to protect myself now?

They said they'll send me out a pack and will phone me next wednesday and I've since blocked their number.

Just put the number into Google search box, loads of info there.
Fingers crossed that you will be OK - but next time, NEVER give details over the phone to a cold caller. It could be anyone, and you can bet that if you went ahead with them, they'd take a substantial amount of the PPI recovered as commission. You have given them a lot of personal details to someone you don't know who they are.

If you wanted to recover PPI, I hope you'd choose the company (or do it yourself), not just go with the first company who rings you.

I never usually for their crap but I was heavily tired and had a fogged up brain and now I'm scared!

Could they take a loan/credit card in my name or clear my bank account out not that i have much. Should I clear my bank account out now before they do? What do I do?

Like an idiot I also gave them my email address!

Had a new one couple of hours ago, from 0019517836129, calling from 'Windows' to tell me all about problems with my Computer, it would appear his ear was not whistle proof.

Did you actually give them your Bank Details, Account number or anything like that?

No Baldric that would have definitely sent the alarm bells ringing.

Can they do anything with my bank name/My address/d.o.b email address and name and phone number or am I relatively safe?

Maybe stage 2 of the scam would be when they phone me next to try and harvest my bank details? Or maybe that's ploy to keep me waiting while they plunder my account or try and get a loan/card in my name?

Do I need to phone the bank to watch any suspicious activities?

It looks like it's this Company Henriette. It's a lead generation Call Centre. ...Here's a link so that you can have a read

I get calls all the time from supposedly my bank, sky, windows, ppi and many more. Last time I blew my whistle so hard it lost it's pea. No doubt I will stand on it in bare feet in the middle of the night.
Note you don't have to go through these PPI companies to get any cash back (and they take a cut anyway).

You can go to the bank concerned directly yourself to try get it sorted.

p.s. You say you were half asleep when they rang but you certainly seem to give them a lot of information. NEVER give out ANY information to someone who phones you up out the blue.

A cold caller could be anyone and you would not give out the same sort of personal information if you met a total stranger in the high street would you !

Thank you everyone and thank you mazie I've emailed them and am waiting a reply. they appear to be pusshy ppi middlemen/salesmen so hopefully my details aren't in the hands of criminals.
my neighbour had a phonecall purporting to be from the fraud squad at her bank as they said someone trying to get £750 out of her bank. As she had recently come back from holiday in north of England she did answer their questions. They then said if she was concerned to ring the tel number on the back of her bank card. She visited her local bank where they told her that if she had phoned that number the scammer could listen into her call and get all the details she would have had to give them! Seemingly the bank stops them listening in after 90 seconds but think that should be changed so they cant listen in at all or cut off after one second. thankfully no money removed but she is much more careful now. Her daughter got the same call the next day and both reported matter to the local police.
looks like the company were phising for your details to maybe sell on -this is the company

I got a "Ppi" pack through the post and am now getting quite a few calls from them as their sales staff try and chase this lead. I've blocked a few of their numbers but they then use other phones so I just blank them.

Lesson learnt.
I must get at least 5 calls a day. If I don't recognise the number I don't pick up. If they want to speak to me they can leave a message. They rarely do.
BTW, at roughly £3 per month caller display is a good investment.
Re Jeza + blowing the whistle down the phone....I used to do that until I was called back out of the blue in the middle of the night. Had to answer phone as we have an elderly relative in a Care Home.... I received such a torrent of abuse + foul language it shook me up for days :(

The never do obiter. I think I might answer them and say I'm someone else so they stop ringing though my phone ringing nonstop does make it look like I'm popular and have lots of friends :)
