Why Divert The Flight?

Surley the stewards can control this rather than inconveneince the whole plane because some idiot wants to be inconsiderate. This happenned to me once, I just lifted up the seat in front to an upright postion, the guy did it again I lifted it again and that was it.

The plane was probably a long way from its destination.

The stewardess should've told the passengers involved that the plane was being diverted because the authorities had determined that there was "an incident" taking place, and it might be necessary to shoot the plane down to prevent any risk to towns or buildings in the flight path.

That should shut them up.

Ummm I think it may depend on the airline but I usually travel Qantas to Australia and believe me it is like a sardine tin. I think the airlines always send their rubbish planes to Africa. Have flown Emirates and the plane from Harare id a beat up cramped old tin can but from Dubai onwards the planes are lovely.

I expect they thought the situation was going to escalate when the woman threw the water over the man and they didn`t want full scale fisticuffs on board.

if the seat can recline into it, it isn't your personal space; personal space is diagonal and pointing backwards. But in premium (which this pair were) I'd expect to be able to lean my seat back whenever I wanted as far as I wanted. If it's still not enough space for the guy behind he should have flown in club.

At 6'4 I have a real problem when the seat in front of me reclines. My knees are already wedged against the seat.
