Hen has a scruffy bum and slight redness around vent.

Fairly normal level of activity and eating/drinking.

No signs of lice.

Have been feeding live yogurt.

Any other suggestions?

Is she a good layer? Might just be that it's been a long laying season for her.

Personally, I would stick some sudocreme on her. I use it for all sorts of ailments, human and animal.

Usually a good layer but been broody recently. Managed to break her (don't have a cockerel), but still getting nasty, big stinky broody poo. She's also evacuating watery stuff, which I think may be why she has a scruffy bum.

Can't get to pharmacy today but will head there tomorrow, would Vaseline help do you think?

They are pure breed pets, over indulged, fluffy maidens!
Vaseline would help sooth it all a bit.

Maybe try trimming any excess feathers around her bum (if she has any), help cut down on anything sticking to her and causing more irritation.

Hope she's better soon.
I am twitching in sympathy for the poor thing. Sore and red 'lady bits' are not a nice thought.

You do have two pots of sudocreme for family and err 'friends' don't you 2sp?

She's not as bothered as I am Wolf, she seems OK just a little under par.

I'll either feed her more yogurt or shove her bum in it later......
Are the others picking on her and pecking her there? I've known it happen.
Yes Eccles, lots of different pots!

I write on the side who they are for - people, sheep etc. Really don't want to get them mixed up!
Question Author
I would probably get forgetful and just write 'mine' on my pot of cream.

From there on in it is like a lottery for the rest of the household/yard ;-)
