Morning all
I have several white facecloths (well they used to be white), before I throw them away has anyone any tips on if I can restore them to the lovely white they used to be. I have tried boiling them in a pan but to no avail. Iv seen the Vanish stuff but is it any good.

I'd soak them over night in a solution of bleach and water, about half a cup of bleach to a kettle of boiling water and add a squirt of washing up liquid. If you're not happy with the results add more bleach and overnight it again.
Be sure to rinse very thoroughly.
I would try bleach

however may not be successful - in the good old days of WW2 and washing sswabs, they ended up a dirty straw colour....

dont do much washing myself
If boiling in a biological detergent hasn't worked is it really worth the trouble? I'd use them for cleaning cloths and buy some new ones for personal use.
I've tried Vanish for oh so many things but I've never thought it was any good. Much hyped methinks . Good luck though rosie xx
You can buy 4 facecloths for £1 in Home Bargains so I would just use them as dusters and buy new.
Soak in Soda crystals 69p for a 1kg bag at ASDA..Alternatively, put a scoop in with you usual wash powder
Any boffins out there who can invent whites which stay white would make a fortune, good suggestions here rosiew, you can also buy proprietry brands of white restorers such as for voile curtains etc.
