Had chest xray on tuesday and blood test today...recieved a phone call from my doctor this afternoon to say my Potassium level is raised and need another blood test. ...Never had a result so quick...had it done at 9.30 and results back by 4.00.. So back to the doctors for another blood test next week. Thought I would let you know what was happening.

Thanks for the update, lilac, but if it is any help to you, I cannot see any relationship between a gland in the armpit and a raised potassium level.

I look forward to further feedbacks.
Think you will find many problems, like glandular fever give a high potassium reading, do some net research lilacben, doctors like to get all the info and results before saying what it is, rather than what it might be, but we patients like to know ALL the possibilities!!!
.

Potassium may well be normal the next time they measure it

lilac...I agree with PP in that your high serum potassium is misleading and may well be due to breakdown of red cells as they are squeezed past the syringe in taking the blood.

I know of no association between a high potassium level and Glandular Fever.

I would advice against Googling causes of a high potassium level until you know that it is actually...high.
