i think greek syle just means set rather than runny, where as greek has to come from greece??
Yep Greek 'style' is made as per the method used in Greece.

'Greek' yogurt is actually made there.

I like Yeo Valley Greek Style yogurt.
I much prefer Total Greek yogurt. Greek style never seems as good.

Thank you both. I think I get it, what you are saying is if it isn't made in Greece then you can't call in Greek yoghurt, so they add the word style.
Eccles I like all Yeo Valley products so I'll get that one, thanks again.

Pasta just seen your post, now hesitating.
I know I'll get one of each and see how I go:-)
I've made greek yoghurt - it's just ordinary yoghurt strained to thicken it. I suspect greek-stye yoghurt is thickened by other artificial means.

Wow you make your own yoghurt Canary - respect.
I wonder what they thicken it with, hmmm!
I think when people make Greek yog at home they use milk powder to thicken it, and strain for much longer.
I've made my own yogurt also. Its fairly easy...just a bit fiddly. Tastes wonderful though.
I've never used milk powder, jennykenny. Just the best full fat milk I can find, some cream and the yogurt starter.
Pasta, that's worth knowing as I'm going to have a go at it myself.

Is plain Greek yoghurt more fattening than other plain yoghurts does anyone know? Just looking at your ingredients makes me think so Pasta.
I think it has more calories per ml because its sieved so some of the whey is removed leaving a higher percentage of fat per ml of yoghurt.
Question Author
Makes sense Woofgang thanks. Ordered one of each this time so I'll see if I can notice the difference.
Probably ladybirder...but I do not eat anything low fat. The whole low fat food industry is a scam...just my opinion.;-)
Question Author
I agree Pasta. They put a load of sugar in instead of fat so I've read, which is just as bad or worse.
I've ordered one Greek and one Greek Style, neither LF:-)
I only buy yeo valley 0% fat organic bio live yogurt, it's lovely and creamy, contains no added ingredients or sugar, just organic milk, and has 89 calories per 150g serving. Admittedly it's not Greek style, but I prefer it.
I like both so don't care too much about terminology. Rachel's Greek yogurt with honey is yumsy., as is yeo valley's.
