hi...i was arrested in june this year at work for theft by employee! i was questioned at police station, bailed to appear in 4 weeks time (july) closer to the bail date i get a call from solicitor its been extended to 4th august! i thought ok..well come the 2nd august i receive another call! you have been re bailed until 4th spet!! what is going on ? why do they keep doing this? there wasnt actually any sound evidence of me stealing! they had cctv footage but i was doing my job what id done for last 3.5 years nothing unusual! they had aload of stuff go missing and tryin to pin point on me as i was seen getting them on cctv! they named & gave me an address of a person to me in police station who they had been told had received the stolen items,i have since contacted them and they are happy to make a witness statement for me..is it worth calling police to let the know or just wait till bail day? someone did say to me let sleeping dogs lie!

i have since been dismissed from employment there and now currently going through proceedings via acas to take them to court for unfair dismissla!
" they named & gave me an address of a person to me in police station who they had been told had received the stolen items..."

If the police disclosed they have the name and address of the handler, then surely that person has been nicked & questioned or interviewed as a witness already and given their version of events (or no-comment)???.

You need to speak to the solicitor as you should tread carefully approaching witnesses (or co-accused).

Re-bail is authorised as the investigation is incomplete for CPS decision.
There is much more about this June event in July

You appear to have contacted your nearby neighbour who you do not know who has in the past somehow innocently received apparently stolen cameras from your employer's warehouse and who might have advertised them on eBay and who will apparently give the police a witness statement. No evidence except that you now know the nearby neighbour.

The police put the name to me, they have not contacted this person for questioning, That's the only reason I contacted them and they are prepared to give a statement for me... As for the items what went missing.. No I didn't send them! They were sent and can not be accounted for! They called me in and had the name of the man and it came to light he lived near me Nd sold electrical items on eBay, I haven't sold him anything!y ex employer assumed this as of his eBay activity but he was actually a genuine customer of the company where I worked!
Sorry, I didn't realise there was another thread (I haven't read it).

If the police have named a person and alleged you supplied him stolen property then they are going to have to speak to him either as a suspect of handling or as a key witness. I'd still let your solicitor know asap.

but this all happened mid june! wouldnt the police of been to him by now if they actually suspected him of receiving stolen goods! his got nothing to hide thats why he said he would be prepared to do a statement for me,,
Question Author
and it was my ex employer who gave his name to the police..theres aot of queies regarding this between me and ex employer as they cant show me certain items ie: a print out of my work for that day! surely thats a key part to the investigation! its now in the process for unfair dismissal ia acas but obs still on this bail which is going to have an impact depending on the decison of the police..just thinking ive been on bail since mid june..if there was evidence i wold of been charged 1st time had to answer bail wouldnt i ?
I'm struggling to make sense of all this. What made your employer think you had committed theft?
Anyway, it's probably best to let your solicitor deal with this- presumably he knows more of teh details we can know from your postings about your side of the story
Question Author
its very hard to make sense of tbh!!
basically work wanted me out for a while..long story
i got called in 1 day n plolice there..arrested on suspicion of theft of 6 cameras,
( my job was to pick orders/package for delivery)
in police station they say they have cctv of me picking 6 cameras, packaging them and placing a label on them for delivery...( nothing unusual as do that day in day out for last 4 years)
my reply straight away * thats my job* the police just looked at me surprised..
interview was literally 10 mins long in the interview they said they had been given a name where ****** think there cameras had been sent to,,i didnt now this person..it works out he is a customer of ****** and regulary orders via the internet..as do 100's of other people..just becasue he lived near me and they had been on ebay looked him u and he sells electrical items online they said that did i send the camera to him! obs no i didnt.. thats that basicallly..
Question Author
when watching the cctv that positon the camera was there has never been one there! they had set one up there which doesnt bother me but im thinking now have they tried setting me up to get me out..its a vey long complicated story..and the other key part! i work alongside 6 others,,i was only 1 pulled in and quetioned! work didnt even ask the others any questions...
I'm still unclear why it was decided there had been theft.
Are you saying you were given a picking order for 6 cameras to be sent to this neighbour's address so you picked and despatched them, but there had in fact been no order and payment for these items so they suspected you of being behind the theft whereas you feel someone else may have raised the bogus orders and used you as the innocent accomplice?
I don't understand it either too complicated , you MUST get a solicitor and tell them everything.
Question Author
no no no ..nothing like that...cut a long story short..they are missing 6 cameras i was the last person seen picking 6 cameras! when they have realised they had gone missing they looked back on cctv seen me but thats my job anyway! and straight way called me in got police and had me arrested on theft of these cameras! my neighbour apparently had placed an order for some blue tooth headphone things of some type all legit.. when they have looked into transactions for that day they have found someone who lives 10 doors away from me who a customer of theres and orders online and tried telling me i have sent the cameras to him!! theres no proof of it because it isnt true! the have searched his name on ebay and found electrical similar items what he sells on there and has done for the last 2 years aparantly,,so still no proof!!? in my police interview they asked me if i knew this person ( named him and gave an address!) i didnt.first id ever heard of him.....ive found out who he is and the police havent even contacted him! this is what i ont understand! if hes been accused of receiving stolen goods why havent they been and seen him? this is why i asked on here can i use him as a witness for me if needed! also its 2 weeks now till i answer bail..what do people think my chances of a NFA are as been re bailed twice....and surely if the police thought he had received stolen goods they would of been straight to his house!...any info apreciated
Question Author
i do have a solicitor! but not heard a word from him! last fewt imes been due to go answer bail his just called me said its been extended n thats it! i told him that i have been to see the person accused and he noted it down!
Sorry, but this is totally confusing to me. I still read it that you are saying you simply did your job and picked an order that was given to you to pick, yet you said in response "no no no ..nothing like that.."
Question Author
Yes all I done was my job! I didn't send them to who they are accusing me off sending to, there is no proof to it that's my point!
