I watched the version Baza saw and it was fascinating. It had the added bonus of an insight to life in central London when there were residential communities there as well as a workhouse on Trafalgar Square.

Unsure how one defines mad, but he is extrovert, no evidence of self consciousness, gets a heck of a lot out of life. Bully for him.

Ah eccentric was the word I had in mind at the start of my post and which ran away and hid after I decided to write extrovert first.
I think it's my brain that is going mad. Nothing seems to stay there for more than a few seconds these days.

I thought it was good, he was like an excited child finding out all about his family, I particularly liked the end when he said he had wondered about the older brother but hadn't dared ask!

As far as BB is concerned, he has made a reputation out of being OTT - I am sure it is an assumed character, rather like putting on a suit for work.

i am sure that in private, he is perfectly normal - no-one could live with that personna for long - either his family, or indeed him!

he has been married to Hildegard Neil for thirty-six years, you don't stay married that long to someone who shouts that much!

Not a huge fan of his but it was one of the best I've seen, very interesting and incredibly moving. I think the Brian Blessed we saw in this was the nearest to the real man were probably likely to. He might be a little eccentric but he is also passionate and sensitive and I was nearly as concerned about the fate of dear old Barnabas and Jabez as he was.

I am sad to see that many of the denizens of answerbank are content to perpetuate stereotypes. Brian Blessed is one of my heroes.He is a man of great humanity and enthusiasm. He is a terrific actor,his roles in I,Claudius and The Boy Dominic are particularly representative of the quiet strength he brings to a role which requires it. Like all actors he brings to a role that which is required,and when that is a large performance,like Vultan in Flash Gordon,that is what he brings. Look at Galahad Of Everest. See who Brian Blessed is. Don't just play to prejudice,discover for yourself.

I have also met 2 people who climbed Everest with him. I think he`s just a typical Luvvie really.
