this is very difficult for me but the other day I forgot a special date. I have tried to make amends but been rebuffed. how do I cope with not being perfect in every way?

I must admit to not being very good at remembering birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

gness - we're not married.

naughty evening - not really. i'd rather get him a card.
Question Author
oy vay or whatever that means
Mic forgot my 40th birthday. I was only when he got to work and wrote the date he remembered.
Question Author
oh jeza. but he made it up to you?

I was reminded when someone rang him and I asked why had they called.
LadyJ - if you have tried the birthday book trick and failed, all I can suggest is what my MIL does. On 1 January every year, she takes her birthday book and copies all the important dates onto her kitchen calender. I couldn't remember half of our dates without my birthday book, everything goes in there, anniversaries, all sorts. I look at it once a month and make a list of the cards or whatever I need to prepare for the next month.
//because I seem to do it most years unless I am reminded. you'd think after 25/30 years i'd remember.//

Can't you even remember if it's 25 or 30 years ?

omg that is so organised. I am full of admiration. I did try something like that once with a sheet of card and then put it somewhere safe . . . . . .
Question Author
no baz I can't. it may be somewhere in between or even a bit longer. not important. we're together that's important.
It just takes a bit of mental discipline, ladyJ, I'd be mortified if I forgot - the rest of my life is pretty chaotic :-)
Question Author
i'm organised in practically every other way. but birthdays and anniversaries. . . . . . . . oh dear. . . . . .
Boxtops, snap. I do exactly the same as you do.
Every New Year, I sit with calenda r and copy out B/days, special things to remember onto the new calendar. Quite a few people have said to me, that they always know that my card is on the way to them,.haha. Hope i dont cock it up this year. lol. (B/days are always highlighted)
LJ, you are not Mary Poppins. Others should realise this. If you have apologised and then they cannot accept this it is their problem, not yours.
