My mother has just told me that, what happened in the next door neighbours chimney when their cat, Sooty, became stuck and I was sent up......

Another I use often is:

As thick as a workhouse butty.
at the back door when they were giving out brains at the front one.
As maize as a handcart or as I would say being a Devonian "Mes as andcart"
A few 'roos loose in the top paddock !
