"Did we ever go over and bomb Dublin or Belfast?" - I doubt we'd need to bomb Belfast but yes, I have no idea why we didn't bomb Dublin.
They have been extensively re-settling since 2005. Basically they pulled out while nobody was looking. This is as much a deployment of civilians as weapons as the shameful tactics of Hamas.

I'd be interested to know what you think these alternatives are, 3T?

/// wrong analogy, sandy and AOG, the man with the peashooter is hamas/Gaza, AOG is Israel. Israel are not attacking other nations. So AOG if he carries on after you smack him, what then? ///

Well I won't say I fully understand what you have put, but in answer to your last sentence, I stand by what I have said previously, I would not continue to attack his wife and kids or anyone else around him.

Target those actually reponsible.

The Irish terrorists did not only operate from Dublin you know.

But even so bombing Dublin or Belfast, would be a prime example of what Israel is doing now to Gaza.
As I see it, if the Jews had not been given land in Palestine in the first place this situation would not be taking place now. The whole of Palestine belongs to the Palestinians. What right did anyone have to give settlers land that did not belong to them ? Throughout history the Jewish people have settled & lived in all countries throughout the world & made a reasonable living out of it. If they had bought the land from Palestinians that would be a different kettle of fish. Let them leave Palestine altogether & negotiate to buy land legit from a country who is happy to sell. Are you listening world this situation DOES NOT WORK.
WR, the problem is that both sides lay claim to this part of land for their own religious history, so buying another piece of land is not an option.

Bombing Belfast would not be a similar analogy, as far as I am aware 1/2 of Gazza is not Jewish whereas 1/2 of Belfast count themselves as British so we would have been blowing up our own. Dublin slightly different but still, many British were living there too.

The two are only similar in the way that the fighting is over different versions of a fairy tale.
didn't moses lead his people back to the land of Israel? not sure if I have got this right.
if the Dublin government endorsed missiles being fired from there to London, they'd, quite rightly, have found themselves in a world of pain. Or rather, the common Dub's would.

AOG, what I'm saying is that in this analogy peashooter man is the whole of Hamas/Gaza you are attacking him, perhaps if you think of his fingers and toes as wives and kids etc, if you end up squashing them as part of your retaliation then that would parallel the anaology. So you've chinned the bloke he keeps firing, what now?

WR, yes 100% accurate, but like my truck analogy above, the rights and wrongs don't come into it, you have to play the hand as it is.

Yes lady J, from Egypt across the read sea, remember, parting there of?
WR 100% right. Don't think so. I'm no expert and cant be bothered to look it all up, but I know it was a Jewish kingdom when the Romans occupied it. (2,000yrs?ago) a long time before Islam and the Ottoman empire were thought of. And as I say I'm no expert but wasn't Palestine 'created' at the end of WW1(less than 100yrs ago. Even I know that)
Do correct me if I'm wrong.(I know you will, anyway. ;o) )
yes sweetie. I understand it was the land of the jews long before the romans.
We did'nt bomb Dublin or Belfast. We DID send the Black and Tans to Dublin(Armoured cars in Croke Park!!) and the Paras to Belfast. Some innocent lives were lost were'nt they?Where needs must or the Fog of War?Certainly not the latter I would suggest.Any case this post is not about Irish politics or their troubles.
thanks milady(a nun ought to know) ;-)

Ok, the UVF did, with English cities getting hit I'm surprised there wasn't more of it.
3T your analogy is stupid. Here are a few changes you can make to it to more closely resemble what has actually happened:

- Leaving the pub is not an option. The door has been barred by the person who brought you in.

- The person having peas shot at them is wearing a full suit of armour and has a flamethrower sitting next to them.

- The person shooting peas does it from a restaurant within the pub (for it is a fancy pub) and occasionally uses the stairs coming down from the restaurant. The restaurant is full of OAPs who have nothing but nice things to say about the nice man with a peashooter.

- Knight with flamethrower responds immediately by torching the upstairs restaurant and burning the stairs down, slaughtering everyone inside.
Maybe peashooter guy is even the chef providing the OAPs with their meal (and thus has an extensive supply of peas and darts back into the kitchen whenever things get hairy). And perhaps there's a rowdy group of flamethrower knights taking up a reserved table in the corner of the restaurant who are ruining everyone else's evening...

Whatever, you get the idea. It's a stupid analogy and really does nothing for discussing the issue at hand.
Question Author
thanks kromo for re enforcing my point, the guy with the pea shooter would be raving to keep on firing would he not? I think it's a perfect analogy very well enhanced by yourself.
Yes, he would. But flamethrower knight...

*sigh*

I can't believe I'm saying this.

...is arguably displaying a far greater level of lunacy by burning alive a restaurant full of OAPs in order to get at an annoying *** with a peashooter. Is the latter really to blame? Do you really consider that a sensible and proportional thing to do?
Question Author
what should he do, endure?
