New problem - when I try to save word files I get a message saying file is read-only, although I didn't make them read-only. What am I doing wrong?

At a guess you've changed to Office 2010 from an earlier version

I had the same problem as did most people I've spoken to. I found the only solution was to save as a copy or as the "new" .docx type
You can remove the 'read only' property from a file by right-clicking on it, selecting 'Properties' and removing the tick alongside 'Read-only'.

I guess you must be opening them as read only.
I'm unsure why that would be the default on your PC/Wordprocessor, but as suggested you can always 'save as' and either rename or continue with the new name afterwards.
