Does anyone had any experience of this and have any advice on the best way of relieving it and how long before it goes away? I have looked on the internet but I wondered if anyone has any other useful tips to relieve it please.

I apologise if you've already seen this page but it probably provides a better summary of all known treatments than some other sites:

While I've not had the condition myself, I've known several sufferers who all went for the 'strapping' option (possibly with exercises as well).

In around one in 20 cases . . . surgery may be recommended to release the plantar fascia".

After 6 months on crutches, I went to a sports injury specialist. Two visits - £80 - done.
Surgeons will always suggest treatment by surgery and it is rarely the best solution for anything.
I suffer from this and found a night splint really does offer relief. Bought from Amazon:

crocs! sorted me.

i suffered badly with it about four years ago

i have had gel-heels in all my footwear since, now there is no pain at all
Wearing trainers with a rounded bottom (so it kind of rocks and stretches it out) helped me the first time. I also did some exercises like standing with the front of my feet on a step and dropping my heel down as another stretch.

I've got a worse spell this time though which won't go away (GP thinks I may have a heel spur though too). I've been doing some exercises in hydrotherapy, rolling a float dumbbell under my foot and doing calf stretches which help it a bit, limited effect but better than nothing :)
