That's the same as they do on the Canary Islands with people who land on their beaches - damned good idea.
Pity we do not follow suit.
Well, if I understood the story correctly, they had them onboard a ship and were going to cashier them over to an Indian Navy vessel but bad weather prevented them sailing and the delay was long enough for a court action to be filed, forcing them to bring them to the mainland (Curtin, it says). Still a detention centre but at least they can see daylight now. (detention rooms on ship described as 'windowless').
