In our everyday lives we encounter so many different scenarios? To what extent does the Bible influence your character and judgment?

Methyl - you say the Bible is a 'good book' but how much of it exactly is of worth when you sift your own wheat from the chaff?

On the subject of crushing snails: on the first day of the pilgrimage to Santiago you cross the Pyrenees and descend through a forest. There are large slugs everywhere and hundreds have been impaled on pilgrims walking poles. You'd think people starting out on a long walk would have a little more respect for life in all its forms.
That's religion for you, sandy;-)

Methyl - Im not sure what you mean?
Question Author
Methyl - i was referring to your earlier post.
Pixie, after they've walked 800+ Km they might have had time to see that all life has a purpose.
So, methyl, an individual should decide for themselves how they should behave?

Methyl - are you suggesting I am deficient in 'basic morals'?
Sandy, if they'd learnt about evolution, they'd know that already;-)
Absolutely none. IMO a fairy tale.
Pixie, the Spanish, and that's what most of the pilgrims are, have a different take on animal life from us.
@methyl - you've been "reasonably law-abiding" & have stopped carrying a knife to use as a weapon - well done you! Your bible studies served you well.
Methyl, "I stand by my statement that The Bible is a Good Book. Just don't take every line of whichever "translation" you are reading as Gospel. Well worth a read and you could learn some basic Morals and decision matrixes."

So the bible is not the truth? so you think that the stoning to death of women is moral, the keeping of slaves and selling your own daughter into slavery is moral, how about the drowning of millions of people and animals in the flood. All moral?
As to my bible, 'The End.'
The story of Joseph and his brothers how he had a dream and he never gave up he always did the right thing but was put in prison for a long time. But he had this determination and character and eventually he was promoted it is an inspiration to me the way that he forgave his brothers because when he came to expose them he told everyone to leave the room as not to shame them. That was true humility the lessons and inspirations I took from it was never give up, if you are faithful and have a good attitude God will promote you and give you favour among men and most importantly to forgive others who have hurt you or you will end up in a prison of your own making. All of those I really fall short on greatly but I have the faith that God will change me because I sure as heck cant on my own. Are you a christian aga?
1 Thessalonians 5:21 . . . which for me pretty much made the rest an exercise in futility.
Methyl, an analytical mind accepting Christianity doesn’t make sense. To put it at its simplest, the dead are dead. They don’t revive.

Gordie - an interesting example. Why did God allow this to happen to Joseph in the first place? In todays world, why do we have so many miscarriages of justice? Forgiveness is not easy when wronged for sure but I simply move on if hurt badly.I consider myself to be a good law abiding citizen who knows the right from wrong.I display Christian values without the need to go to church, pray or refer to the Bible.
