sengas, I am allergic to some bites and have to be very careful, you need to get some insect repellent with DEET - you can get 50p.c. and 100 p.c. i have tried all these other methods and nothing works as well. Even been to Kenya and other parts of Africa and never got bitten - you can also get permethrin which you spray on your clothes. You can get off Amazon. Take care!
I read that soldiers serving in mozzie areas use Avon Oh So Soft skincare to battle against them. Worth a try?
That should be "Avon Skin So Soft". Used by the US National Guard on forest exercises. Can't be advertised in the UK as an insect repellent, but there's an ingredient in it that they don't like. There's a handy dry oil version that my wife and I have found that works on our holidays in the tropics.
By the way, Deet is pretty viscious stuff. It'll melt anything plastic, like sunglasses frames and camera bodies, etc. We never go near it.
Deet has never melted my sunglasses or anything else if you don't spray it on them! I would rather be safe than sorry!
You rub it on, it gets all over you hands, then you touch plasticky things and it leaves permanent fingermarks on them!
