Gordie - I live not to far from you and it has been really bad today. Even with two skylight windows (which usually cause a cross-breeze) and the fan whirring away it has been far too hot.

The cats are totally puggled and have been snoozing all day. It hasn't been all that sunny - just hot.

Like you there is far too much of me and that never helps. My hair is longish and that seems to make it worse.

I am off upstairs to see if the air is cooler now.

Have a nice weekend.

I'm about 50 miles south of you Gordie and our forecast for the weekend is a bit cooler with scattered showers.
Enjoy if it reaches you. :-)
It might not help, but you're not alone, gordie - many of us are suffering now. My MIL's in hospital in Glasgow and it's been baking in there today. People with respiratory problems are finding it particularly difficult. I'm just glad I've not got to run about in the Games, I don't know how they do it!
I was on a tube train in London a couple of hours ago that stopped in a tunnel due to problems with signalling on the line. Really uncomfortably hot and airless and a few people fanning other people with whatever they could. Tried not to think about the heat though could feel trickles of sweat running down my face. It can be very unpleasant but somehow we survive!
Was baking in my wee bit of Aberdeenshire today which is a bit of a bu && er cos i'm on nights and could have done with the kip
I dont think your problem is completely weight related......I recently lost nearly 9 stone and am still finding this hot weather hard to deal with.

I suspect that some people can deal with heat and some cannot.

Try and keep as cool as you can, but remember to up your fluid intake as that can help.
It is all Slapshot's fault - he is a weatherman.
AliceTickband - you are really Alice in The Wonderland - congratulations on that weight loss. JjCon
I canny win can I..... yees whinge when it chucks it doon and whinge when it's roastin...... ;0) It's part f the training... the ability to take the blame
Like I said on another thread heat like this makes me feel sick...
I'm not as I was very lucky - a night last night with incredibly still and humid air, the consequence being that I didn't sleep until gone 3 am. Went into Argos and no joy as to fans being on sale, so I go in next door to a local hardware store and, for £18, I have a nice fan spewing cool air over me now, and for later. Bliss.

Almost as good as the Primo de Conti from Bergerac that I am enjoying....
Sounds nice mate.... TDF went to Bergerac today...
Its very agreeable, slappy, a M&S special...
We did a daft thing a few years ago, the game was to find bioth a wine and a cheese from whichever bit of France the tour went to.... the cheese was easy but the wine proved difficult from the high mountains.... some of the mountian cheeses made up for it though..
Loose clothing (all non synthetic materials - linen is great) - lots of water - no rushing about or heavy work during the day, extra salt (very important to offset headaches), regular cool bath/shower, light foods ie salads/prawns/fruit etc - a fan if poss plus lots of feet up in a darkened room with a dampened towel across your person.
Sorry I can't agree with you - I absolutely love it - the hotter the better but do understand not everyone shares my enthusiasm!!!
Sounds fun, could come up with some corkers there, just thinking of the Jura and the Pyrenees.....
I'll see if I can dig ouit the list we made.....
cotes du forez (Auvergne) and a 'briquette de Forez,' - http://www.fromages.com/en/fromage/106-briquette-du-forez
sancerre and a Loire chevre, preferably a cendré....
