I have an automatic watering system which I mainly use on manual. When I turned to auto it didn't work. Returning to garden found that it had worked. Is there a time delay, if so, why?

It might have to 'cycle' round the whole clock until it reaches one of the pre set times again.

If I turn my central-heating to "auto"...I assume it will be governed by the timing device...It won't come on straight away. I assume this is the same.

thanks to both of you. I couldn't wait for hozelock to come back as I wanted to test before going on holiday. I'll just have to stand guard to check this out. Bit like checking the fridge to make sure the light is out when door closed !!!
