Hi,
If you let your house to your son and wife, they pay rent, and they live there alone, you and your wife and children live elsewhere, do you need tenants insurance for building and contents, or are they classed as close family members living their?

thanks,
annie.

they need their own insurance
They're your tenants if there's a lease or tenancy agreement and they are paying rent to you. You need landlords' building insurance - the contents are the tenants' business, not yours (unless of course you let the house furnished).
tenants dont have to get building insurance - the landlord (you) needs to sort that. If they want their posessions covered in the event of an insurable event, then yes, they do need insurance!
