Yes.

But it may depend on the recipe, and your personal taste.
Your question makes about much sense as asking are carrots nice?

There are so many different recipes for squash soup that it is impossible to answer.

Personally I think squash makes a silky smooth soup and works very well with Asian flavours and coconut milk. Why don't you pick up a ready made one in your supermarket to try and then make your own after that if you like it, adjusting to your own taste?

Eccles what do you mean a ready-made one - are you talking about a tin etc if so I have never seen one.

I remember tasting lentil and ham soup (homemade) it was delicious but when I bought canned version it was absolutely horrendous.
You can get cartons in the chiller section of supermarkets, Covent Garden is one maker, there are others.

The only soup I ever buy is Heinz Tom or Mulligatawny, make everything else myself.
Look in the chill cabinet of your supermarket I'm sure you will find New Cocent Garden and own brand fresh soups.
Home-made Lentil soup or Pea and Ham is yummy.

thanks
Baxters soups do a few different butternut squash soups too.
I make it a lot...lovely!!!
Never seen it in a tin...homemade much, much nicer!!!
I'm only suggesting buying ready made as there are so many very different types of squash soup and for the sake of a pound it is money well spent experimenting with an Italian, Thai or whatever recipe to give an idea of the flavour and texture of squash before comitting to making a litre or more of soup that isn't to your taste.
I make it a lot, very simple. I add cumin, coriander and star anise for interest and it's always silky and delicious. Topped with some crispy bacon bits, can't beat it!
Mrs 9401 makes it. I think that the first thing she does is throw the squash away and then boils up the soil it grew in.
