It is all about expectations.

Few people expected us to get out the group, let alone get anywhere near winning it.

All Brazil expected them to win it, though it was not a great Brazil team by any means.

Brazil had home advantage and were expected to win it.

The expectations of a nation came from his pre-tournament statement that Brazil would win the World Cup. And again, after they had narrowly beaten Colombia in the quarter-final, he said that they had one hand on the trophy. Hoist by his own petard?

I must admit I was surprised when he said "Brazil have one hand on the trophy".

What on earth was the point on him saying that.
