If someone is proven guilty beyond all doubt of having committed a heinous crime such as murder or child abuse, and is sentenced to life, then why not just sentence those people to death, thereby saving millions by not having to house them in jail for 20+ years?

I was basically thinking from a financial viewpoint. Why spend millions housing scum when you could just get rid of them quickly. As for the mention of miscarriages of justice I think this would be an exception rather than the rule. And were the Irish terrorists are mentioned i think the authorities knew all along those those people were innocent.
