have an 04 Kia Sedona and its been a great car lovely to drive and brilliant access up the middle to children in the back seats. Last October I accidently filled it with petrol instead of diesel and it died. We replaced the fuel pump, fuel lines, lift pump, sensor and crank sensor. Then sent to Kia dealer for analysis as it had run for over an hour but when been turned off and locked had refused to start again and we suspected it might be the immobiliser. Kia dealer advised it was the ECU as not communicating with immobiliser and there appeared to be power into ECU but none out to immobiliser. We sent ECU off to specialist Company for checking and it came back with report that it was fine so we sent the immobiliser to another specialist Company for checking and this also came back as no fault. We checked and replaced wiring between the two and still no joy. Still have car sorned on my drive and cannot start any sensible suggestions apart from the local scrap yard please as now desperate to sort this.

Have you tried the Kia owners club forums? Car forums are generally very good, as owners with problems can punt ideas around helping each other with fault finding, usually with good results.

Don't scrap it ! I'm not going to try and diagnose your fault, because I'm not familiar with Kiss, but I have done all my own maintenance on all my cars, and throne thing you get to find out pretty rapidly is that most Main dealers are only part fitters, not mechanics, and that avoid garage is hard to find.

My advice would be to try the forum, also see if anyone can recommend a good garage near you. Have you done, or had a diagnostic test done? Somebody who has an OBD reader may well live nearby and help you out.

I havent tried owners clubs but will give it a whirl thanks
does it turn over ? or just dead..
changing all those parts with a misfuel is a bit over the top ,although recomended they are very rarely fitted , usually at most fuel filter.
Were they new or second hand ? i would take a guess at second hand due to the age of the vehicle.

We had new fuel pump, crank sensor, fuel lines and lift pump. It does turn over and I can hear the immobiliser kick in when I remove the key and while it is trying to start. I have reprogrammed the keys and still no joy. No reply from Kia owners forum either. A garage today has suggeste I try replacing the transponder/key reader that sits behind the ignition somewhere as this is not too expensive to try and apparantly they do fail sometimes. If this doesnt work I am at a complete loss.
Do you have home start with AA or RAC?

No I'm afraid we dont. We have breakdown cover but thats not much help in this situation. We have had an independent mechanic work on it and he has exhausted all ideas on what could be causing this.
Exactly the same problem I have had.
On the main fuseboard under the Bonnet (Hood) there is a 10 amp memory fuse. Take that out and wait 5 minutes. This disables the immobiliser circuit.
Put key in and the car will come to life after about 2 or 3 goes. It will work OK then. The only thing is, you will not be able to lock your car. However if you are stranded at least you can get home. This is KIA holy grail of a fault and is common with all models even the Hyundai versions.

The fault lies mainly with 1st BATTERY!!! Most important try this first (Borrow one don't buy one) if this cures the fault there lies your problem.
2nd Ring antenna around the ignition barrel Change this (Quite cheap)
3rd Immobiliser unit itself.
Happy KIA driving when you can get it to start.
