me and my butty got to wondering this morning if you can walk into a bank and put cash into someone(who isn't present) else's account. I initially thought you could but I'm not so sure now.
Told him ABer's know everything, lol, so don't let me down.

Yes you can. Most banks take cash over the counter by means of the account holder's debit card but it can still be done by means of a paper paying-in slip provided you know the sort code and account number. Here's my account details if you want to try ***** :-)

You talk to your sandwich?
Yes...as long as you have the account number and sort code.
It's no problem as long as you know the sort code & acc number.
Yes you can......all you need is the Sort Code and account number. Mine is 01-01-01. 123456789

but you couldn't just go in armed with their name, then, NJ.
Even if it was the actual branch they banked in?
The other person's Bank Account No would be the problem.
The Bank would want to know how you know that person's A/C No and Sort Code.
They would see it as a Security issue
I asked first, spanner !!!!!!

I'm lonely, sipowitz. ;-(
No they wouldn't redman.

I did just this a few months ago before Christmas. I had to pay money to a friend who did not want me (for some reason best known to him) to make a payment by internet. Worked a treat, no questions asked.

You can get plenty of bank account numbers and sort codes from journals like "Private Eye" where idiots publish their details in the form of "begging small ads" under the "Eye Help" section.

but, again, you cant just go in with their name and address, then?
All the details are printed on a cheque anyway.
no you have to have their account number
Question Author
alright, thanks all. Make sure I don't get his details before he goes on holiday. ;-)

If you have the details you can do it over the Net, never mind turning up in person. If you don't have the details then I suspect you can't regardless.
