Using A Browser On My Tablet - Urgent Help Please!

Reason for urgency - I go on holiday tomorrow!

Have mastered my first Tablet well but have a problem with the internet browsers (most of them). Am currently using BING App and my problem is that, unlike on my laptop where I can enter in Search a long question or line with maybe 8 or more words, on my Tablet if say I was to enter in search:

British singers of the 1950's era....

Before I get past the word singers a list appears with all sorts of info which I can select and this will appear. However, if I continue to type in the search box I can get no further, the list which appeared has gone and there is no 'search button' to press for further info.

What am I doing wrong and why is it different from my laptop Bing and other search engines on my laptop? Is it anything to do with the BING app not being the full laptop version?

I am puzzled! The same happens in the Firefox and Chrome apps and others,

Thanks so much

I also use a tablet. Usually when using an app the word 'search' does not appear but instead you usually get an icon/symbol that looks like a magnifying glass. That is the search button.

Thanks but what browser do you use and can you search more than a few words?
I use an ipad2. I use the safari browser. If you have a question you can just type it into the address bar. I get the same that I start to type and then get choices before I have finished but if you carry on typing I think it thinks you are asking a different question. It is supposed to help. Once you start to use these aids it becomes second nature. I don't bother going for any of the other browsers when safari does what it is supposed to.
I use safari too and press return on the keypad once I want it to start the search.

Well it is sorted! Thank you both so much.

This time I went into Bing and the same problem occurred but then a bx appeared and it said something like 'do you wish to retain.......' or something to that effect. This time I ticked the box 'always open like this' and 'yes' and the next time I searched Bing it let me typeas much as I wanted in the search box and different suggestions appeared as on my laptop - great!

Finally and I had not noticed this before, once I had opened the search bar the little 'magnifier' you mentioned replaced the return key! Wow!

Thanks so much again.
I've got an Ipad 2 and use Google through the Safari browser - works like a dream!
