I only ever drink vodka in cocktails, and not during the week (Islington rules - they are posted on a website...)
sp, //is it not refreshing that after two decades of PC, there's a party where people CAN say things like this???//

But this is not the party. They’ve thrown him out.

Well I think it would have made more sense to keep him in. Perhaps a better tack would've been, "Whilst some may find his views extreme, he is entitled to them and UKIP Is broad church - we welcome those who would be otherwise silenced by the hierarchy of the establishment".

I genuinely think that could've worked for them.

As it is, they now come across as being just the same as the Coalition and Labour, where extreme views are not tolerated.

I personally find this young man's views quite astonishing, but I assume they are the product of his upbringing - should he not have a voice?

Shouldn't UKIP foster his free speech?

When I say 'UKIP is a broad church', I don't mean 'Brioadchurch' the ITV drama - which was awesome...
The Monster Raving Loony Party were a broad church too. But that, I believe, is the chief reason that they never succeeded in being anything more than an attractive fringe party.
repellent views, did anyone notice that he was born and brought up in Rhodesia. where apartheid ruled
Is he a refugee fleeing Mugabe's tyranny or an economic migrant?
no idea, good they threw him out.
sp,// I think it would have made more sense to keep him in…..Shouldn't UKIP foster his free speech? //

This is disingenuous. Had he been ejected from any other party you’d have applauded the action. However, you don’t want to see a party that opposes mass immigration succeed and so you wilfully encourage racism. Poor form, sp.
what a good response, i confess that i think that UKIP's Nigel Farage does have his hands full with some of these people, at least the bloke has gone, but i do wonder that being brought up as white British in Rhodesia might not have made him rather, how should one say this, biased
Never mind getting him out of UKIP, wouldn't Farage want to see his likes out of the country?
bloomin foreigners coming here and trying to take our council places
he is British, so no.
He admits to being an African, born in what is now Zimbabwe. I'm not sure I'm altogether happy with these foreigners coming here and stirring things.
I think you are being unkind to the rank and file UKIP members and supporters, contary to popular labelling they are mostly people who are concerned about the soveriegnty of our country. Those are not at all worried about subjugation by a foriegn power seem to think that unless you agree with them then you are some sort of retard. UKIP like all parties attract the odd nutter and expell them. So I think you are being very insulting to the sensible masses for wanting to exclude a nutter. SP, this may come as a shock but not every one agrees with your views.
// Born British in Rhodesia //

Wrong. Born in Zimbabwe. Rhodesia ceased to be 35 years ago.

He is an immigrant.
Surely the point here is, not that this tw*t has the views he has, but that he should have got through the checks and balances that Farage told us had been put in place after the last time this happened. Lampitt isn't a little weird....he is barking mad.

This has happened with UKIP so often now, that we no longer find it surprising when it happens. And yet people keep saying that they support the Party ! Is it any wonder that I and others refer to UKIP as BNP-lite.
// a decorator and kitchen fitter. //

Not just an immigrant, but stealing our jobs as well!
// In the broadcast he wore a builders hard hat and said "since the lads from Eastern Europe" had moved to the UK he had struggled to provide for his family. //

Not been on benefits I hope.
Careful mikey, that sounds a bit like the thought police. No one can know what private thoughts are held by members of any party and thus no one can know what they'll say or do when unguarded or perhaps when they think they can get away with it, remember Degsy? No doubt Labour have closet commies who want stalinism and no doubt there are devotees of the Nazis on the Tory side. Mostly they keep quiet though I imagine a few incidents have been hushed up in the commons bar after quaffing cheap pop!
Tora

They weren't private thoughts, they were published worldwide.

I would have thought any party that is picking a candidate for parliament would do a cursory check of the candidate's FaceBook Page, Twitter, LinkedIn and any other social media network they used. Such a check would only take a few minutes.

It is fair to assume that UKiP make no checks, which is why these own goals keep happening.
