I'm going to one tomorrow.

Not going to post the reasons and whereby's, just thought I'd let you know that an ab'er has reached that level, and before the pompous, righteous brigade get on their high horses, there are free areas of access to the internet.

Looks like we're all on your side, albs. Sorry you're having a tough time, but get the leg-up you need. I'm sure things will turn round for you soon. Meanwhile, you know where we are if you need us xx
Albs have emailed you take care xxx
Alba, I saw this earlier and couldn't think of anything to say that others weren't saying. I still can't.

I hope this is just a temporary blip for you and your family and that things will soon get sorted out. Good luck tomorrow. I envisage tins of tuna and tins of tomatoes. Hopefully, you can make tuna pasta bake tomorrow. That's if you like it, of course.

Very best wishes. xx
Alba, I'll second Tilly's comment above - I've just seen this and am sorry to hear of your troubles. I hope that things pick up and improve for you very, very soon. There are two food banks in my town and they are much needed due to the area I live in, and I can't find anything bad to say about them.
I hope all goes well tomorrow, All the very best xxx
i take my hat of to you alba :) ( if I had one ).
Hold your head up high and ignore any negative people. I hope things get better very quickly. As the song goes 'The only way is up!'

Well done Alba. Should keep you going for a week or so, though some of the recipes will need a little imagination.
Again, well done and best wishes.
Hey ah wench, only just seen this post. Glad you got sorted with some food and has others have said 'Hope it's only a temporary blip.
What, no tuna!

Alba, I'm reasonably sure you have an email for me,
if it gets bad, use it!
There's some good food items there, you'll be able to cobble up some lovely meals.

Hope things look up for you and yours soon Alba xxx
Glad you listed contents, alba. There are those under the misapprehension that people attending food banks receive a trolley full of goodies. Now they can all see that what you actually get are the basics. A friend of mine received roughly the same as you, only he got a jar of lime/garlic stir fry mix and a tin of grilled herring, too. I know this because he gave said items to me:-)

And i hope your situation improves soon.
Purely out of nosyness but can you pick and choose? For example, I don't like mixed tins of veg, so could I (if I used em) ask for say a tin of carrots on their own? Or do you just get bags already filled?
Question Author
Tilly, very remiss of me, there was a small tin of tuna :-)

They 'give' you food for 3 days, this is for a couple.

Balders, thanks, will do :-) xx
Question Author
Bags already pre-packed for you Boo, there's no picking and choosing.
A couple is given the weight of 12.5k of food, don't know what it is for say, a family of 4, couple and 2 children under the age of 16.
Oh right, didn't know how it worked, I assumed (obviously wrongly) that there were boxes of stuff, and you got to choose so many out of each box- for example, coupla tins from the "tinned veg" box and so on.

Does seem a shame if you don't particular like a food item they give you doesn't it? What happens if you suffer from certain food allergies?

Anyway, all that ^ is just my pointless ramblings, lol- as I've said, I really hope things look up for you soon :-)
Not much protein tins listed. I will donate a case of tuna in ur name Albs - hope things improve for you asap. X
Question Author
Tambo, thank you xx

If anyone wishes to donate, then to find our your nearest collection centre, type in Food Bank and your area.

Life likes to lob the odd hammer in my direction at times. They haven't yet robbed me of my sense of humour.

It's the overdose of beans that's concerning me :-)
