So have I ?(gentle answers please) - I've come back from the vets today having been 'persuaded' with a tube of cat toothpaste which I'm supposed to use daily with a cotton bud until my kitten gets older then upgrade to a cat toothbrush.....

Did they not sell you a Shower-cap for when little one wants to freshen up as well?
Well, good luck to you.
I wouldn't dare to try brushing my cat's teeth.....even with leather gauntlets on.
Maybe starting with a kitten would be OK.....maybe.....
Did the vet actually demonstrate what to do on the actual kitten, not just telling you ?
Did they also provide a pair of these?

Baldric apparently she gets that at her 12 week appointment :-)
She showed me using a diagram, it tastes of fish I'm told, nice!
I thought the vet would not have shown you on the real thing....they're not stupid....
I think if started early my cat would tolerate this especially if the flavour was fishy.
hmm, it's unusual for a vet to recommend that especially for a kitten as they lose their milk teeth anyway at 5-6 months anyway as their adult teeth grow through.
My vet said as long as biscuits are provided too, the plaque should not be a problem in most cases.
Does the tube have garfield on it? and did they secondary sell a mouse shaped toothbrush :-)
I got my dog a toothbrush and some toothpaste, I've tried to use it on him once, probably not going to be a second time.

I can't actually knock their veterinary care but they often try to push other items on me like Petplan, Royal Canin food, commission I expect.
I don't think I'll bother with the toothpaste, not unless I get a pair of Boo's gauntlets.
Snap Rocky, no way will I try to brush our dogs teeth again!
If you start young enough maybe the kitten will get used to it. Wouldn't try it with mind. Good luck.
I tried brushing teeth with my dog - he ate the toothpaste and most of the toothbrush.

If your little one is still very young then it may actually work. The problem with evil fleabags (cats) is that if they don't want to do something then they will just get the weapons out to persuade us to go away.

Have you got any baby pictures?
my two would be more like this than let me anywhere near their teeth with a toothbrush :-) ......

here she is wolf, she's currently 10 weeks and 1 day old
don't faff around with toothpaste, just get her to use mouthwash after every meal.
Flossing and tooth picks are far better. How much were you charged for the fang paste?
Aww, Prudie - what a cutie! :-)
